His father is Lord Grimwald, who once wanted to marry Cook.

At Bloor's

Spoiler warning.

Charlie Bone is made "in charge" of Dagbert and is forced to befriend him. But Dagbert drives all Charlie's friends away and Charlie starts distancing himself from him. Dagbert tries to drown Benjamin Brown's dog, Runner Bean while Charlie, Olivia but the dog is saved by the mysterious Red Knight. Charlie later regains his friendship with the others while Dagbert joins the other side at Bloor's. One of Dagbert's sea charms is stolen by Tancred, "for future encounters".

"Your sea-gold creatures? Come and get them." Tancred scattered the tiny fish and golden crabs in the long grass that bordered the woods. But he put the sea urchin in his pocket.'"For future encounters," he said to himself.

Chapter 20, The Red Knight, from Charlie Bone and the Wilderness Wolf

In the seventh book, Dagbert captures Charlie's moth, but it is lost by Dagbert when Charlie uses his connection with Claerwen to wake her up, therefore letting her shatter the glass, and escape, forced into the shape of a caterpillar which finds her way to Charlie in a dark room in the west wing and goes into a cocoon. Meanwhile, Tancred agrees to swap the moth for Dagbert's sea gold charm. The moth is a fake and Tancred loses his temper. Dagbert is unable to control what he did next, as his actions are influenced by the moon. He makes a dripping tap flood the whole sculpture room with water, nearly succeeding in drowning Tancred. Ezekiel Bloor and Dr. Bloor insist this as an accident, though Charlie is not convinced. In the eighth book, Dagbert reveals himself to truly just be influenced by the moon. He hides his sea gold charms but his father gets Joshua Tiplin to find them. Eventually, Dagbert is drawn towards them, and Joshua and Charlie follow him and Charlie and Joshua start fighting Charlie doing it for Dagbert in which a swordsman attacks. Luckily, the red knight interfere and kills the swordsman dead so Joshua gets afraid and doesn't move. He is afraid because his father, Lord Grimwald, had come to the school, and would surely try to steal the sea gold creatures to defeat Dagbert, due to the Grimwald Family Curse. Dagbert shifts over to Charlie's side, and the two confront Dagbert's father in the Ballroom. In the middle, the Sea Globe. Feet away from it was Lord Grimwald. Lord Grimwald attempts to drown them, succeeding in knocking Dagbert out. Lysander arrives and his spirit ancestors force Grimwald into the sea globe, drowning him. The sea globe shrinks to the size of a small sphere and Charlie gives it to Dagbert. Charlie tells him to go to the Kettle Shop so he will be safe. Dabert then fights on the 'good' side in the battle. Dagbert is also called "fish boy" by many people.

Dagbert is described as having aquamarine eyes, like the color of an iceberg underwater. His hair is shoulder-length and dull, greenish-brown with a slight crinkle. He is tall for his age (eleven and twelve throughtout the series) and very pale, his lips described as 'almost blodless.' he walked with a 'peculiar, rolling gate, like walking on the deck of a ship.' He constantly smells of fish and the ocean, and explains it away by living over a fish shop. In the last book, his scent vanishes due to his change of sides.

  • Dagbert's mood is controlled by the moon.
  • Dagbert's real name is not Endless, but simply says it is because his name seems endless.
  • Dagbert keeps from having some sort of fit above water with sea gold creatures made by his mother from the gold of drowned mens teeth.
  • Dagbert's 'fits' involve uncontrolable shaking and his face and body taking on a sickly green glow visible through his clothes,
  • In Dagbert's family, there is a curse that a father or son dies in the son's thirteenth year.
  • Dagbert is descended from Petrello, the same child of the Red King as Tancred.
