Lysander Sage is on of the main supporting protagonists of the Charlie Bone series. He is descended from an African wise man and can call up his spirit ancestors.
At the start of the series, Lysander has two sisters, Hortense and Alexandra, who are both unendowed. His mother later has another baby; whether this sibling will be Endowed is unclear. He inherited his ability from his mother, Jessamine Sage. Lysander's father, Judge Sage, is a powerful judge in the city. The Sage family lives in the Heights, which indicates that they are affluent.
Lysander is Tancred Torsson's best friend, has a girlfriend named Lauren, and is good friends with Charlie Bone.
Lysander is the only one of the Endowed who the Bloors/Yewbeams cannot combat, thanks to his immensely powerful ability to summon the spirits of his warrior ancestors. Though his Endowment is seen as a gift and allows him to function as a deus ex machina in fraught situations, Lysander does sometimes suffer from his ancestors’ angry drum-like vibration.
He is in fact so powerful he is able to restrain both Ezekiel Bloor and his grandson Manfred's tremble-causing hypnotic stare, then face no consequences from the school afterward, during the events of Charlie Bone and the Invisible Boy. Even more impressively, he successfully battles the oaths and defeats Lord Grimwald.
He is seen as one of the more calm and wise of the “good” Endowed children, a strong ally and resilient friend. He also owns a grey parrot named Homer, granting him access to the The Pets' Cafe.
